Meher Afroze Chumki MP, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs is a born politician who has been elected as the Member of Parliament in 1996, 2009 and 2014 in National Elections from the Gazipur-5 Constituency. She was born on November 1, 1959. She did her Honours and Master’s from Dhaka University. Her father, Late Mohammad Moizuddin was a Veteran Freedom Fighter and Member of the Constituent Assembly of Bangladesh and Mother Bilquis Begum was a renowned Social Worker.

She was the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs during 2009-2013 and was appointed Hon’ble State Minister for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs on 2 June 2013. She was the Chairperson of 10th Commonwealth Women Affairs Minister’s meeting in Dhaka. She was also Chairperson of All Party Parliamentary Group on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and President of Family Planning Association of Bangladesh. She led Bangladesh to the United Nation’s CSW, CEDAW, CRC, Commonwealth Women Forum OIC meetings and participated many others international and regional workshops and seminars on women empowerment and child rights.

She got married to Mohammad Masudur Rahman and is blessed with two sons.
